What is a LAN Party?
|
According to Wikipedia.org, a LAN party is a temporary, sometimes spontaneous, gathering of people with computers, between which they establish a local area network (LAN), primarily for the purpose of playing multiplayer computer games. LAN parties take up all shapes and sizes, and give gamers the opportunity to be social in an internet-dominated era.

Planning a LAN party can be hard. We're here to help you.
Through the help of the PC gaming community, the LAN Party Wiki hopes to provide intimate details on planning every single aspect of LAN gaming, no matter how large or small your planned event may be. Starting out, we're encouraging focus on the setup of the events themselves, but all volunteers are welcome to expand into whatever territories they wish, from game setup to history of LAN gaming to write-ups on historically renowned LAN parties and digital festivals.
Discussion on piracy and file-sharing is allowed, but all links to sites or guides pertaining to acquiring pirated or otherwise illegal material will be removed.

The LAN Party Wiki is the official subreddit of Reddit's /r/LANParty! Meta-wiki discussion posts should go into the subreddit. In addition, the Admin can be reached through the contact information given in the About page.
